The Regional Government of Valparaiso (Gore) is responsible for senior management in the region. It aims to develop social, cultural and economic of the region. For the exercise of its functions, the regional government has legal personality under public law and has its own assets.
 
It consists of the Mayor, who is appointed by the President of the Republic to hold the office, and the Regional Council, whose directors are elected indirectly.

In Gore's initiative to present proposals lies in the Mayor. Belongs to the Regional Council approve, modify or replace those plans. Then it is the Mayor who must run as approved by the Council.

Also, the Regional Council will monitor performance corresponds Mayor as Chairman, who must give an account of his administration at least once a year, take stock of the state budget implementation and financial situation.

• Manage efficiently and effectively the Regional Public Investment Decision for achieving the objectives of development, optimizing the stages of public investment.
• Plan the development of the region to guide regional investment decisions, through the development and implementation of planning instruments and land management. 
• Develop and manage programs and projects in order to satisfy needs and wants of the region, by focusing investment in areas of social, cultural, sporting, economic and scientific technology.
